Urban Decay Vegan False Lashes Review

in Makeup, Misc, Vegan on 01/02/11

6/6/12 – SAD NEWS – Urban Decay is NO LONGER CRUELTY FREE.

When you want to do it big, there’s nothing like fake eyelashes to up your sexy, glam factor. I wore Urban Decay’s Urban Lash falsies in Tease for my night out on New Year’s Eve, and I loved them. They gave me a bit of drama without being over the top. Nothing wrong with over the top by the way – but not really appropriate for the French restaurant I went to.

Urban Decay Tease Lashes

I’ve worn my share of fake eyelashes and I’ll tell you why I love these, but first, here’s a quick tutorial for putting on fake eyelashes:

1. You should do most of your eye makeup before you put on the lashes. I even line my eyes with eyeshadow – just be careful not to use anything waxy that might not let the lashes stick. Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler. Some people add mascara, but I usually don’t.

2. Apply a thin layer of lash adhesive to the rim of the fake lash – not directly on your eye! I love Urban Decay’s adhesive because it comes with a little stick applicator. If you are using a different adhesive, try a toothpick or Q-tip stick (without the cotton) to get a thin, even layer.

3. Now the secret is to let the glue dry a bit and get tacky before putting it on your eye. This is the hardest part for me, because I am NOT a patient person! Wait at least a full minute while waving the eyelash to dry it. If the first coat was too thin, you may need a second coat.

4. Now, carefully position the lash so it aligns with the outer corner of your eye (in the pic, you can see I probably should have moved it closer to the outer corner – although part of that is just winged liner). The longer lashes should be on the outer corner – if not, you’re probably putting it on the wrong eye. The positioning part takes practice. You can move it a bit after you place it, but if you do it too much, you’ll need to reapply the adhesive, and you might mess up your eye makeup.

5. Once you have the lash in place, keep your eye closed for a bit and fan your eye to dry it. When it feel secure, you’re done!

So, why buy Urban Decay lashes?

  • They are all synthetic, cruelty-free and vegan!
  • They have a crazy awesome selection – from tame to wild – including fake feathers
  • The adhesive comes with a handy applicator
  • The website tells you which styles are easiest to apply – helpful if you’re new to fake lashes
