Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer vs Naked Skin Concealer

Hey beauty bunnies! Urban Decay sent me their full line of Naked Skin concealer and the NEW All Nighter concealer. I decided to test drive the two side by side to see which one is better. I’ve also got swatches of each so you can pick your shade.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

Let’s start with the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer. It’s a full coverage concealer with a demi-matte finish. There are fourteen shades that correspond with the UD Naked foundation. I didn’t find an exact shade match, but Fair Warm was a pretty close match – especially for the areas I want to highlight (under the eyes, nose, chin). Light Warm is a better shade for me to cover blemishes and dark spots. The formula has an impressive array of skincare ingredients: Matrixyl 3000 (contains anti-wrinkle peptides), Japanese green tea (revitalizes and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines), Litchiderm (derived from lychee fruit – protects against dehydration), and sodium hyaluronate (a lightweight hydrator).

Urban Decay Naked Concealer Swatches

Urban Decay Naked Concealers (L-R): Fair Warm, Light Warm, Light neutral, Med Light Neutral, Med Light Warm, Med Neutral, Med Dark Neutral, Med Dark Warm, Dark Neutral, Dark Warm, Deep Neutral, Extra Deep Neutral. (Fair Neutral and Dark Golden not pictured.)

Here are the Urban Decay Naked Concealer swatches immediately after swatching, and one hour later (in the second photo). You can see that they oxidize a little bit – most of the shades seem to get a little bit darker, but nothing crazy. It wore okay in the creases under my eyes, but there was some creasing. Nothing more than usual however.

Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer Review

The Urban Decay All Nighter Concealers are a new release. The range of concealers match the All Nighter foundation shades. They are extremely high pigment, full coverage and waterproof. You won’t get these off completely without an oil-based makeup remover or pre-cleanse. There are fourteen shades from fair to dark available at Ulta and on the UD website.

Urban Decay says, “this long-lasting formula provides much higher coverage than Naked Skin Concealer. UD increased the pigment level by 73%! A high-tech blend of polymers and humectants provides ultra-long, flawless wear and prevents All Nighter Concealer from settling into fine lines and pores. And just like All Nighter Liquid Foundation, this formula features light-diffusing pigments to blur flaws for a soft-focus effect.”

Here are the All Nighter Concealer swatches (L-R): Fair Warm, Fair Neutral, Light Warm, Light Neutral, Med Light Warm, Med Light Neutral, Med Neutral, Med Dark Warm, Med Dark Neutral, Dark Golden, Dark Warm, Dark Neutral, Deep Neutral, Extra Deep Neutral.

The first photo is right after swatching, and the second is about an hour later. You can see that (just like the foundation), the concealers oxidize A LOT – about six shades darker than they first appear when you apply them. Ignore the peeling on the first four shades in my second photo – that was from accidentally touching something while it was still wet. I was working while I had these on, so they got a little messy.

So what’s the verdict? I swatched both under my eyes and on my face (if you followed my Instagram Story, you saw all the action). They both creased under my eyes, but the All Nighter concealer creased considerably more! So much that I was shocked at how much older it made me look. I have oily skin in general, but dry skin under my eyes. All Nighter definitely wore better on the oily parts of my face. But the coverage is so intense, that it made it hard to color match.

The Naked Skin Concealer is definitely the winner in my book. If you plan to buy either, I encourage you to try a sample, or swatch on your hand (or face if you sanitize first). See how the shade looks on you after a couple hours, and see how it wears on your skin.

Too bad about the creasing. That’s a deal breaker for me. And I adore the packaging of the All Nighter, but I’ll stick with what I’ve got that doesn’t crease

These new concealers are too dark for me to wear 🙁 I love UD but they need to make a pale shade for me!

Glad to know it’s vegan. The pigmentation is really opaque, I am interested to try it

I’ve got Naked Skin and I’ll stick with it now that I see them side by side. The new one will be great for some people but I think it will be too heavy for me. I’m happy to see your pictures an hour apart, that really helps.

UD naked concealer is my holy grail! Thanks for this post, I was curious about all-nighter and now I know to skip it!
