Senna Form A Brow Review

in Makeup on 11/18/09

I think nice, well-groomed eyebrows are one of the best ways to look polished and put-together. For some reason, I have always had brow issues. When I was about 10 years old, my grandma told me to never pluck my eyebrows because they made me look like Brooke Shields. I’m not really sure if that was a compliment or not…

When I look back at school photos involving my unibrow, braces and giant glasses, I cringe. When I was a teenager, I ignored my grandma’s advice and took matters into my own hands. While riding in the car with my family one day, my mom and sister accosted me with what I call an “eyebrow intervention.” They said I needed to stop plucking and get myself into brow rehab ASAP!

So now, I go to a professional to get my brows waxed, but that can be pricey and I don’t go as often as I should. I still have very thick brows, but they are sparse in certain over-plucked areas – ahem. And, they don’t always have that sexy arch that I want.

So, I was excited to try Senna‘s Form A Brow kit. It comes in a mirrored case with three brown shades of powder, a small shading brush, a brow comb (looks kinda like a mascara wand) and 4 eyebrow stencils.

The brow powder is great – you can actually blend the shades to get the exact color you want. The darkest shade is pretty good for me on its own, but blending it with the other shades makes it a little more natural looking. I like the little brow comb for blending and grooming the brows, but I would recommend using a much stiffer brush to apply the color.

I found the stencils a bit tricky to use. They seemed a little thicker than I would have liked and not quite the right shape. This could be because I have very small, deep-set eyes (my eye doctor actually told me to wear children’s glasses because the lenses are closer together!). I have used stencils from other brands in the past, and when I was a teen, my mom actually made stencils for me! Yes, it was a pretty serious intervention. 🙂 But, I’ve never had much luck – even with the homemade variety.

So overall, I like this set, and I would recommend it. You might get more mileage out of the stencils than I did – especially if you have a “normal-sized” face! But, the eyebrow colors are definitely a win.
