Revlon/PETA Outcome and Revlon Dupes

in Dupes, Makeup, Misc on 06/09/13

Sad update – June 2017 – NARS is no longer cruelty free – the company has decided to sell in China, a country that requires animal testing. Click here for details.

Earlier this week I shared the news that PETA bought shares of Revlon stock in order to attend their shareholder meeting. PETA representatives went to the shareholder meeting Friday in New Jersey. As you can imagine, the Revlon representatives were not overly pleased with this tactic. They said (in a nutshell) that they’re going to keep selling in China, which essentially means profits before compassion. This is very disappointing since Revlon was one of the original brands to go cruelty free.

Join me in boycotting Revlon until they get their proverbial sh*t together. In the meantime, here are some Revlon dupes for you.

Liptini Revlon Dupe

The first is a dupe for Revlon 001. Liptini’s Flirtini is a pretty close dupe. It’s not as peachy as the Revlon lippie, but it’s close.

NARS Revlon dupes

The second is a dupe for Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in “Precious.” NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in “Madere.” is nowhere near an exact match, but it’s close. It’s more matte and doesn’t stain, but when you mix it with lip balm, you get a much dewier look.

Do you have any good dupes to share? Submit them to the My Beauty Bunny Facebook page, and we may share them here on My Beauty Bunny!

ummm very interesting…this shows what a VILE company Revlon is…well I have not bought anything from them in 15 years and will continue NOT to buy anything from them! There are MANY wonderful compassionate companies out there making fabulous cosmetics…to them….I will go!

I’ve boycotted Revlon ever since they stole the nail photos from a blog without asking permission or giving credit. See things aren’t changing much over there……..

Arrgh! So annoying. So, any hints on who I can purchase hair dye from in true gothy black or burgundy? And liquid black black eyeliner? Revlon had been my choice since Avon started selling in China (home of both animal cruelty *and* horrific human rights atrocities, too!) Now I’ve got to find another source. 🙁

So bummed about this. Ugh. I used to loooove Revlon and was so sad when I found out they were no longer CF. Pretty smart move on PETAs behalf though!

I hate Revlon and will never purchase from them unless they become 100% cruelty free

    Jen,
I’m surprised you recommend NARS products. Their parent company is Shiseido, who sells in China. I loved NARS, but stopped buying their cosmetics when I learned this.

How disappointing…but I haven’t used them for quite some time anyway. *sigh* Oh well, I guess there are lots of other cruelty-free brands to choose from!

Yes, I’m also surprised to find NARS on a “cruelty free” blog…

NARS is owned by a company that is not cruelty free, but they maintain cruelty free practices. Same as Tom’s of Maine, Burt’s Bees, etc. You can read more about our stance on our cruelty free lists page. It’s up to you to decide which products you will buy and which you won’t.
