Product Review – HydroPeptide Eye Cream

in Misc on 09/13/09

Dark Circle Cream HydropeptideThe one thing that ages me most? My eyes. The dark circles and puffiness make me look like I’ve never had a good night’s sleep. And although I only have a few fine lines, I want to make sure I don’t get any more. So, I’m always on the search for an effective eye cream.

The ones I’ve found in the past always seem to be good at moisturizing, but they don’t do much else. So, when my friend recommended HydroPeptide Anti-Wrinkle Dark Circle Concentrate, I thought it would be another cream with big promises but no results. Lucky for me, I was wrong.

I’ve been using the eye cream for six weeks now, and I’m really pleased with the results. My dark circles are definitely less noticeable. I can actually leave the house without concealer!

The cream has an iridescent appearance from pearl powder and mica, which act as light reflectors and instantly improve the appearance of dark circles.Vitamin K works to improve blood clotting, which prevents the capillary leakage that leads to darkness under the eyes.

This cream works great on puffiness too. By using it at night, I wake up with less puffiness. When I apply it in the morning it takes care of the remaining puffiness quickly. This improvement is the result of dipeptide-2, which improves drainage under the eyes and reduces bags. There are also a few other anti-inflammatory ingredients that reduce swelling.

The eye cream is thicker than others I’ve tried. It’s really concentrated, so a little goes a long way. It feels cool on the skin and moisturizes without feeling greasy at all. It contains two ingredients that draw moisture into the skin, sodium hyaluronate and glucosmaine HCL. These help the skin to stay moist and plump. It also contains Squalane, a moisturizer that smooths away roughness and keeps skin soft.

And those fine lines? Well, they’re gone. Argireline reduces muscle contractions and wrinkle depth, Dermaxyl and Matrixyl 3000 help repair damaged skin, improving collagen and elastin, which results in smoother skin.

Looks like I’ve finally found an eye cream I’ll stick with. Here’s to younger eyes!

Hi Jen, I really enjoy your blog and am also fully committed to cruelty free skin care. I’m glad I found your review of this Hydropeptide product. I am beyond confused with this brand. I tried to contact them three times and got ZERO response, nothing. I want to be 100% sure they don’t test on animals, but there is no information on that anywhere, just a couple of blog entries which I can’t fully consider a guarantee. I already know their customer service is nonexistent and absolutely disrespectful, but I still liked the result that I saw on my skin after a facial with HP products. I really want to try their toner but if I’m not sure where they stand regarding animal testing, I will not buy it. Do you have any information on that? Thanks a lot!

Hi Tania – this is an old post, so I haven’t had any communications with the brand for a long time. Here are the questions I normally ask (if they don’t answer, I can try – and if they still don’t answer, we should be suspicious):

    1. Are the finished products tested on animals by the company, a parent company, a third party or an affiliate company?

    2. Are the products tested on animals during the production process by the company, a parent company, a third party or an affiliate company?

    3. Are any ingredients used in the products tested on animals by the company, a parent company, a third party or an affiliate company?

    4. Are any ingredients used in the products tested on animals by the company, a parent company, a third party or an affiliate company to comply with any laws and regulations?

    5. Are any ingredients used in the products tested on animals, or do they contain ingredients that have been tested on animals, by the company, an ingredient supplier, an affiliate company, or a 3rd party supplier in order to comply with laws such as TSCA, CEPA, ELINCS, EINECS, REACH, NICNAS, SCCP, etc?

    6. Are the products sold in any markets where animal testing is required by local law and regulations (China, etc)?

    7. Are the products vegetarian? (no animals killed for the products – i.e. some forms of collagen, squalane, etc.)

    8. Are the products vegan?
