Ola Loa – Drink Your Vitamins

in Misc on 02/17/11

Ola Loa cruelty free vitamins

Beauty starts on the inside, right? Well, let’s assume you already have a stellar personality and you regularly donate to charities and help old ladies cross the street. You’ve got a beautiful heart, but what about the rest of your body? Hair, skin, nails, energy, mental recall, joints, bones – all of these can be improved with proper nutrition. Multi-vitamins are great, but if your body doesn’t digest them properly, you lose a lot of potential for absorption. Now I’m not a doctor (nor do I play one on TV), but it seems that there is a case for drinking your vitamins. According to cruelty free brand, Ola Loa, only 10-20% of nutrients are absorbed in pill form, but your body absorbs 98% of the nutrients in powdered or liquid form.

Cruelty-free brand, Ola Loa, makes several versions of powdered, effervescent multi-vitamins and supplements that you mix with water or another beverage. If you normally drink juice in the morning, you can add a packet of Ola Loa for an extra kick. It comes in several varieties and flavors:

  • Repair (for bones and joints)
  • Energy (Cran-raspberry, orange and tropical)
  • Kids (Cran-raspberry) – great for little ones who can’t swallow pills
  • Sport (Mango-tangerine, Mixed berry and Lemon lime) – great for after exercising or in my usual case – to prevent hangovers!

The taste is not bad, but not something I would seek out (there’s no added sugar but they are flavored and sweetened with stevia), so I definitely recommend mixing with juice. With juice, you’ll hardly even notice the addition. These products are gentle, so you can drink them on an empty stomach. You can try them out one pack at a time – I believe they are sold in individual packets at Whole Foods, Ralphs, The Vitamin Shoppe and other stores. Or you can buy them online.
