NCLA Pressed Nail Polish Collection

NCLA Pressed Nail Polish Collection

One of my favorite vegan and cruelty free nail polish brands has come out with a collection of adorable pressed juice inspired shades. The NCLA Pressed collection is inspired by the oh-so-very-LA pressed juice obsession. My fiancé and I are fans of “life juice” as he calls it. Say what you want about kale, but drinking it with some other vegetable and fruit juices is a fast way to get nourishment into your body (why does eating raw kale take so long – who has time for that)! There’s a fancy (and usually very expensive) juice stand on every corner here in LA – especially in the part of town where we live (near The Grove). So why not create a spring-time nail polish collection based on fancy health shakes?

The Pressed collection features six shades: Fairykale Ending (an army green), Banana Almond Blonde (pastel yellow), Avocado Bravado (a mint green with a tiny amount of shimmer), 24 Carrots (a vibrant orange), Sweet as Agave (a muted nude) and Low Cal So Cal (a candy apple red).

NCLA sent me three shades to try out: Banana Almond Blonde, Avocado Bravado and Sweet as Agave. With pastels, I usually find that if the brush streaks at all, it’s REALLY noticeable. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I generally need to use three coats for pastels, so that’s what I did here.

NCLA Banana Almond Blonde

I really think I need a tan to rock Banana Almond Blonde. I honestly thought any type of yellow in a nail color would look hideous, but actually the pastel yellow is pigmented enough to be interesting and to NOT look like you have yellowed nails! I think it would look really pretty with a deep tan  – especially for those tropical vacations!

NCLA Avocado Bravado

Avocado Bravado is really pretty. I much prefer pastels when they have some shimmer – I feel like it give them dimension. The mint green shade is pretty on pale skin, and it’s perfect for all you mermaid wannabes out there!

NCLA Sweet as Agave

After the first coat of Sweet as Agave, I thought it was basically like a nail lingerie type of thing – a top coat with a small amount of nude color. After the second coat, I realized I was wrong. It’s definitely sheer and thinner than the others, so it is easy to apply but still pigmented enough to cover the discoloration and ridges on my nails. A really pretty “au naturalé” summer look.

Will you be picking any of these juice-inspired shades from NCLA this spring?

I love the names of these! I also prefer a bit of shimmer in my pastel polishes and i think Avocado Bravado is my favorite!
