Milani Abstract Palette

in Budget, Makeup on 04/01/12

Milani Cosmetics is releasing the Abstract palette soon. It’s a palette of seven wearable neutral shades for you to mix to create your own color or use each shade individually.

I was recently sent the Abstract palette (along with many other Milani goodies) at the Central Florida Beauty Bloggers meetup in Orlando, as Milani was one of the sponsors for the event. I was very excited to get my hands on it, as I don’t have a lot of neutrals and I LOVE the paint palette idea and design. The colors really compliment each other and blend together easily.

The largest shade is a pale neutral, ideal for an all over color base shade or a subtle highlighter. The rest of the shades are variations on brown and gold, great for emphasizing your eyes but not competing with them.

1
I believe 1 works best as an all over base color to prep the colors for blending or a subtle highlight. This color wasn’t very pigmented and I had trouble getting it to show up on my skin. This is a pale beige matte with a hint of brown.

2
2 is a subtle pearly light brown. This would make a good lid shade and it showed up without trouble on bare skin.

3
3 is a very pigmented dark brown matte that would work as a liner. This one showed up with no effort.

4
4 is a medium-dark brown matte that would be great for contouring the eye or shading in the crease.

5
5 is a gold and it might be my favorite of the bunch! I wish it wasn’t so tiny. You could use a tiny bit of it as a brow highlighter or inner corner highlight. It’s got a pearly finish. It’s really pretty and my favorite of the bunch.

6
6 is a medium brown matte with red undertones. It’s got good pigmentation.

7
7 is a pearly medium brown that would make a great lid or lid and crease color. It also has good pigmentation.

This is a really nice neutral palette that works well together. I would say it’s perfect for travel but I’ve read several places online that this style of palette from Milani is fragile, so I don’t know that they would travel that well. Regardless, it’s definitely perfect for your vanity table at home.

Have you tried Milani Cosmetics? What do you think of the Abstract palette?

I like that they're not all matte textures in this one. It makes it a really useable palette. I can't wait to find it in my town.
