Maya selects fabrics that are 100% vegan. She designs patterns and sewing modern garments with a vintage touch. While drawn to diversity and finding grace in each decade’s fashion style, it seems she’s also deeply inspired from the Victorian era with its noble, somewhat “dark” royal clothing, flattering fits, patterns and stiff fabrics. Maya is also drawn to the traditional Japanese style with the classic, sometimes “mysterious” look and the contrast of bold colors. This gives her designs a unique style.
In her new winter scarves/cowls collection, her special touch reveals in it’s best. The choice of a stiff but still soft and comfy synthetic fleece fabric, along with the adorable retro prints, turns an ordinary accessory garment to a very stylish and rare item!
Maya sent me her delicate, black lace bolero. This one is a romantic and comfortable layering piece. It would be pretty in the summer (or in Los Angeles – any time!), and it looks great over a casual outfit or evening dress, or on top of little shirt and a pair of jeans. Its flattering, loose pattern gives the perfect light feel!
