LUSH Blousey Shampoo for Overprocessed Hair

Blousey Shampoo

It’s odd when I test out a product and my opinion of it is so different from what the product details and other reviewers say about it. This happened recently with LUSH Blousey Shampoo. I like the product, but based on the ingredients, product info and reviews, it should be a very moisturizing, gentle shampoo. I actually found it to be more of a detoxing, volumizing shampoo. I don’t know if I got a rogue batch or if my hair is just reacting differently to the ingredients, but I do LIKE the results. I need more volume for my hair, and when I pair this with a moisturizing hair masque (like my new fave from DermOrganic) I get optimal results. It’s definitely safe for color-treated hair – I just didn’t find it as moisturizing as it claims to be.

Blousey is very thick – it’s full of bananas (which eliminates the need for preservatives), cupuacu butter, cloves, anise, pimento berry, cocoa butter, rose oil, blackcurrant, thyme, rosemary and juniper berry oil. It sounds like it should smell amazing, but the smell is not the best. It’s heavy on the banana scent, but mixed with so many things – it kind of smells like you would expect a homemade hair smoothie to smell! I use a pretty big handful on my long hair, but I don’t have a problem with lather. It lathers up enough for me and I feel like my hair is super clean afterward – with no residue. Blousey is cruelty free of course – and also vegan!

Jen- I tried Blousey for the first time last night, and I kinda agree with you– I found it VERY cleansing, but not stripping. It really toned my scalp, which is wonderful. I used Happy Happy Joy Joy for a conditioner and the overall result was light-as-air hair, very shiny and smelling gorgeous. As for the super-moisturizing and gentle part– I don’t see it either. However, there is definitely a place for Blousey in my shower. 🙂

I haven’t tried any of the Lush hair products but this sounds fascinating. Might have to give it a go!
