YuzuYouth Brightening Eye Cream Review

YuzuYouth Brightening Eye Cream

Most people in Los Angeles never tell their real age. But, you guys know me, I’m nothing if not honest. And I think I look pretty good for my age, so I have no problem telling you I’ll be 40 this year! I can’t really believe it myself. I couldn’t believe it when I turned 30, which now seems kind of funny. And I’m sure when I turn 90 (if I should be so lucky), I’ll look back and laugh!

But, just because I’m getting older, doesn’t mean I have to look or feel old. I do everything I can on the inside and outside to keep myself looking and feeling good. I take Vitamin C supplements to help my body create collagen. And I use Vitamin C topically to brighten my skin. I think it’s one of the best anti-aging skincare ingredients out there. My skin can’t tolerate a lot of Vitamin C all at once, so I tend to use it as a spot treatment, or just around my eyes.

YuzuYouth yuzu Vitamin C eye cream

The area under the eyes is what I hear most people complain about once they pass the ripe old age of 30. People who have never used any skincare products other than a bar of soap will suddenly start asking what eye cream to use! I’ve been using eye creams since I was a kid (no joke) but I’ve also had periods where I just let the facial moisturizer do all the work. For the past few months, I’ve been experimenting with different eye creams, and I wanted to tell you about this one called YuzuYouth from Skin Research Institute.

Yuzu Youth Eye Cream

YuzuYouth is a Korean-made brightening eye cream made with yuzu fruit. Yuzu is a Korean citrus fruit that has three times more Vitamin C than lemons. Yuzu-yu is an ancient Asian beauty ritual of taking a bath in yuzu fruit during the winter. I can imagine this would be so nice during the cold winter months. You absorb a lot more than you think through your skin, so I can imagine that it would probably give your immune system some support to protect you from colds and flu!

YuzuYouth Brightening Eye Cream contains yuzu fruit, additional Vitamin C, adenosine and medical-grade polypeptides. The Vitamin C they use is called SAP (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate), which is a stable, water-soluble form of vitamin C that functions as an antioxidant and is potentially effective for brightening an uneven skin tone. This formula helps to reduce the appearance of dark circles, encourage collagen production, hydrate, plump, and promote cell regeneration.

There are some eye creams that have immediate effects (usually due to thick, hydrating creams and tightening ingredients like caffeine). YuzuYouth is more like a long-term anti-aging serum (for dark circles, crow’s feet and thinning skin). It is hydrating, but it’s not thick. I appreciate that because, at my age, I’m still dealing with acne and I’m prone to millia (those little bumps you get under your eyes). Since it’s not comedogenic (meaning it won’t clog pores), I put it all over – from brows to temples to undereye area. If you have very dry skin, you may want to layer this under a thicker moisturizer. I use it morning and night, and I don’t find that I need to use a lot of product – it spreads very easily.

YuzuYouth Vitamin C Eye Cream

Just as important as what’s in YuzuYouth, is what’s NOT in it. Everyone has a different idea of what clean beauty means. And you may feel safe using some ingredients that your friends may avoid like the plague. Either way, you’ll never find these nine ingredients in any of Skin Research Institute’s products: parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, formaldehydes & formaldehyde-releasing agents, hydroquinone, oxybenzone, phthalates, talc, or titanium dioxide.

YuzuYouth is cruelty free, vegan, and eco-friendly. They use glass bottles, which are not only gorgeous but plastic-free and recyclable. If you want to try this eye cream, you can feel good about buying it, because they have a 60-day money-back guarantee. They will accept a refund without question if you’re not satisfied, even if your bottle is empty. I’d suggest to give it at least four weeks to see the results before you decide. They have a lot of confidence in their product which says a lot about them. I like that it brightens but worry that it might not be moisturizing enough.

Yes, if your skin is really dry, you may need a thicker cream to go on top.

Can’t beat a good eye cream. Since I hit 40 I’m really noticing more wrinkles and sagging. Yuzu is such an interesting ingredient!
