Rescue for Chapped Lips
The Lip Exfoliator from E.L.F. is a great help for dry, cracked lips brought on by the drying winter spell (or overexposure to harsh lip products). Sugar/Sucrose is the top ingredient, with grapeseed oil, avocado oil, shea butter, and jojoba oil following along. The gentle oils and scrubbing sugars buff away the rough dead skin, while moisturizing the healthy, vibrant skin underneath.
Similar to face scrubs that include granules of tough but natural particles that polish off the outer layers of dry skin, the lip exfoliator is best used as part of a regimen after washing and before moisturizing or applying makeup. One tube should get you through about a dozen or more uses, depending on how long you massage your kisser each time.
Unlike a number of other scrubs, the Lip Exfoliator doesn’t dry out the lips and is sweet to the taste. After application if you let the lip smear set a bit it will melt to a sugary, buttery finish – with the rough sugar particles softening, making it a bit easier to wipe off without being too abrasive. A good rubbing together of the lips as you would after applying lip balm will smooth out the oils, and help you spot any areas that might benefit from an extra application. If you’d like to use a little less to make the tube last longer, wiping it off right away before the sugar loses its rough edges should offer a bit more buff and polish.
