lather toning eye gel my beauty bunny

LATHER Cruelty Free Lightweight Eye Gel.

A long time ago, I was staying at a mid-range fancy hotel. I make it a point to NEVER use the hotel-provided toiletries because I can’t be sure whether or not they are cruelty-free. So imagine my delight when I inspected the tiny bottles only to find the promise: “Not tested on animals.” What was happening?!

LATHER, Inc. was happening. I had never heard of this company, though apparently they’ve been creating quality, cruelty-free products since 1999. They use only natural ingredients, lots of essential oils, and environmentally-friendly packaging. They also have in-store recycling programs (which earn you a shopping discount), and offset the carbon footprint of their corporate office. A quick call to the company (where, by the way, a real human actually picked up the phone and addressed my questions), and I discovered that all of their products are vegetarian as well. In fact, the only non-vegan ingredients they use are honey or royal jelly (also derived from bees.) Okay. I’m officially in.

The product I received to review was their Toning Eye Gel with Vitamin K. Eye creams are wonderful – as we’ve discussed before on My Beauty Bunny, they are really one of beauty’s best kept secrets. I’ve tried a lot of them over the years, so I was pretty skeptical at the claims on the box: “provides immediate relief and revitalization for tired, puffy eyes.” Immediate? I don’t know…but I tried it. At the risk of sounding like a LATHER salesperson, it WORKED. I made my husband try it as well (his eyes are ALWAYS tired and puffy.) It worked on him too! It wasn’t like a pair of new eyes obviously, but the results – even after just one application – were visible and lasting.

Unlike other eye creams, this is really a gel – clear, lightweight, and very tingly at first. It was kind of fun to feel all those shiny little molecules hard at work. After a few minutes, it dried up, fully absorbed into the skin, and the tingling stopped. It was great to use this product just for a day – I can’t wait to see what happens with long-term use. It promises to be pretty amazing!!!

(Note: this product, like all LATHER products, is vegetarian. This eye gel contains royal jelly and is therefore not vegan.)

Shop online: Lather …or if you’re lucky enough to live in Pasadena, Scottsdale, or Atlanta, visit one of their storefronts
