Indie Spotlight: Beauty Bakerie

Beauty Bakerie Lipstick

I stumbled across a wonderful indie beauty company while browsing Instagram a while back. It’s called Beauty Bakerie, and the products are really fun – all candy and pastry inspired – yum! The products are mineral-based and made with Vitamin E, argan oil and antioxidants, for happy skin. I tried Kiss My Ice (a pastel violet pink) and Berry Biscotti (a blue purple shade).

I think Kiss My Ice would look best on those with darker skin tones or light skin with pink/blue tones instead of my yellow/warm tones. I think the world has plenty of makeup shades for pale gals, so I’m happy to see a brand that caters to Women of Color. I also want to point out that I have a lot of chapped lip action at the moment, so it was hard for me to get a smooth look. The Beauty Bakerie’s blog has a recommendation for that!

Berry Biscotti

Berry Biscotti is a really fun color! It’s probably too daring for me on most days, but I can totally see Phyrra rockin’ this color!

Beauty Bakerie Swatches

Since my swatches are not doing this brand justice, here are some from Beauty Bakerie’s Instagram account:

The Beauty Bakerie owner and breast cancer survivor, Cashmere Nicole, is a doll (and GORGEOUS to boot!) and her story is incredibly inspiring. Here is her story in her own words:

“This year marks the end of a two year journey with Breast Cancer. It marks the near end of my 20s but it is also the beginning of a new work in me. Standing eye to eye with cancer was nothing I thought could ever happen to me. Honestly, I still sit here trying to process that entire ordeal sometimes. What I do know, however, is that our character is developed during trials and adversity. I’m much stronger than I was at this time last year. Last year, I was completely broken. After finding out I had cancer growing in my body, I would sit for hours on end and cry wondering WHO on earth was better fit than me to raise my most precious jewel, my daughter. I imagined the horrible things such as my own funeral.

Compounding my emotional distress was finding out a classmate had succumbed to the disease when I was pulled out of my anesthesia in the recovery room. I immediately began looking for people who could use their influence to shed light on how important it is to not only check your breasts but to get second and third opinions.

I was told by TWO different doctors that I was perfectly fine. It was a year later and a new physician in a new city who was flabbergasted at what the two doctors had advised me. I didn’t think it could happen to me. I bought pink stuff because it was cute. I donated, so shallowly – because I liked pink.

I decided when I began my company that we would give to raising awareness all because I liked pink and here I am 25 with it growing in my body with every opportunity to spread. I’m blessed beyond any measure and no one needs to tell me, I feel it; I understand it. I want to be sure others are well educated. I want to enter the schools, occupy the colleges and stress the importance.

Beauty Bakerie is not about making money to me because I understand my purpose now. It is about garnering enough attention and using that as a platform to fuel my passion and to influence the people; to inspire them; to be the reason someone doesn’t give up. Without my family and friends (and it took ALL of them) I’m not sure I would have pulled through.

I will continue to work on educating my supporters, followers, customers and in time, I will be able to expound upon those fine details and make a significant change in someone’s life.

I’ve learned all too well, that life is short, we MUST be thankful for the small things, there is a lot of life and beauty in them.”
