acne scar removal

Guest post by Damon Scordo

Having a zit is bad enough, but no one should have to suffer from acne scars years after the acne is long gone! Luckily there are ways to remove acne scars and get your skin back to its former glory.

Red or brown acne marks that are left behind after a pimple (also known as macules) will usually fade with no need for treatment. To encourage skin renewal, try skin treatments with retinoids (prescription Retin-A or over the counter creams with retinol), hydroquinone, kojic acid, glycolic acid or lactic acid.

Be careful with hydroquinone if you have a darker skin tone because some dark skin tones can have a (rare) reactive darkening. For darker skin tones, try one of the other options. For severe marks, try dermabrasion or chemical peels to remove the top, discolored layers of skin.

Deep, pitted acne scars can take two forms: scars with a gradual dip or depression or scars that are deep and narrow. These acne scars are called ice-pick scars, depressed fibrotic scars, soft scars, atrophic macules, or follicule macular atrophy.

For deep acne scars, try laser resurfacing. Laser Skin Resurfacing is a cosmetic laser procedure that, when performed in the hands of the proper licensed medical professional, can have amazing results beginning with the very first treatment. Laser resurfacing uses high-energy light to remove damaged and discolored skin. Laser resurfacing may also be used to minimize wrinkles and fine lines.

Be realistic with your expectations, and explore your options with your doctor or skin care professional.

My little sister is an adolescent & suffering from acne scars. She is so worried about that & gone under medication. But the result is not so impressive. We heard about laser skin resurfacing but worried about the cost. How much it can cost??

Fraxel skin resurfacing for acne scar removal? Hmmmm…This cosmetic procedure should work for my deep acne scars as well. I must try this fraxel Richmond Hill treatment as soon as possible! I just can’t wait to get my skin back to its former glory! Thanks for this excellent post, Damon!

Acne skin scars are still a pretty common problem, everyday more people are adopting modern options to treat this problem. Luckily many people often have great success with natural skin care treatments, but some still may have to use more intense procedures.

I have some acne scars on my cheeks and will probably try Retin A. A lot of people recommend it. Anyone tried Retin A on scars? Does it work?

My favorite natural acne cure is baking soda. It works as an exfoliator and prevents breakouts. Make a paste of baking soda in some warm water and apply it to the skin. Initially, you can leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and gradually increase the duration to an hour. I normally leave it on the entire night, and notice a great difference in my skin.

    Great post Damon.

I have always believed that the best way to get rid of acne and any other skin problem is eating right and living healthy

Eating lots of fruits and vegetables that supply the body with relevant nutrients is key to an acne free skin.

Always good sleep also impacts on your skin.

I wish all acne sufferers will read this article and make adjustments where needed.

    Thanks for the information.

I have a few acne scars on my face; however, they’re fairly light and unnoticeable. I’ll have to try out one of the treatments you suggested; I’ll probably go with over-the-counter creams with retinol. I hope that I won’t need a chemical peel or laser surgery to rejuvenate my skin, but it’s good to know those are options if I need them. Thanks for the article!

Faxel laser resurfacing is a good treatment to release dark and deeper acne scars. I know something about this treatment this not only work on your face rather than it works on neck, arms and hands. This is also used to remove dark circles and wrinkles. This is really a short time and easy treatment than surgery. Surgery takes such a long recovery time. It gives you natural beauty results.

You would need to consult with a med spa to find out which treatments would work for hands/arms.
