My Stinky Life

in Budget, Misc on 04/24/12

I have a REALLY strong sense of smell. And I have two cats. And a dog. So, I am always looking for ways to make my house, my car, my boyfriend, my life – smell better!

I have 3 air purifiers – two in my living room and one in my bedroom. It makes a huge difference. Here are some other products that keep me from losing my mind.

Pacifica Island Vanilla Reed Diffuser

I keep my Pacifica Island Vanilla Reed Diffuser in my kitchen, which happens to be very close to the trash can and the dog’s Pet Loo. Now instead of stinky-ness – I get to smell a lovely fruity vanilla fragrance every time I walk in to the kitchen. Much better! It’s a fairly subtle fragrance, but I do smell it every day. I also have the Pacifica Island Vanilla Soy Candle, but I find it’s not really strong enough for my stinky little world. It’s nice to have on the side table when I’m reading a book in bed, but not really hardcore enough for my living room (AKA my office). You can also buy the same scent in a perfume and body butter from Sephora.

lavender oilFebreze is not cruelty free and I think it smells horrible. So, I made my own (thank you internet!). Basically, I just added some lavender essential oil to a bottle of water. I mist my bed before I go to sleep, spray it on my couch and sometimes I even spray it on my dog! You can use any combination of essential oils – tea tree oil is a great one to add an antibacterial element to your spray.

Diamon Crystal Mist
I also spray Moroccan Method Diamond Crystal Mist on my dog (and on my own hair – dry or wet – it’s refreshing!). It smells great and it has myrrh to kill germies and other stinky things. Moroccan Method makes cruelty free people and pet products. I plan to try the Pine Shale Shampoo and Creme Rinse on my dog next. I’ll keep ya posted!

aromatherapy-for-your-carWhile doing research for this post, I just talked myself into buying one of these bad boys. An aromatherapy oil diffuser for your car! Yes! It’s only $9.99 at Drugstore.com. I’ll let you know how I like it.

I need more ideas! How do you keep your home smelling good? Please let me know in the comments.

I Have 3 poms and one of them it’s a male and he marks his territory.. So go figure it’s been 6 years since it’s with us and we professional clean our furniture every 3mo, but doesn’t works much, I also have candles all over my apt, but nothing! Yeaterday I used white vinegar & I think it works! But tomorrow we are going to take him with the Vet to neuter he tolds it’s very important to do it, to decrease cancer problems in the near future, and that is bad for him to have 2 females and (bc we don’t want) not reproduce. So the 3 of them are my eyes, my life, so I’m a bit worried for the surgery but he’s in awesome shape and I’ll pray.

I use oils and candles all over my home. My fav fragrance is anything citrus. Zara Home also have some lovely air-freshners; you insert sticks into the liquid and it emits a gorgeous fragrance constantly (not sure what you call these types of fragrances) .

I have some older, cheap models (nothing over $100). One of them I actually found on the street (not kidding – someone was getting rid of it)! You should check overstock.com for some deals.
