Glitter Mani Gradient Tutorial

A England Ophelia and Girly Bits Razzle Dazzle Nail Polishes

Hi there! I’ve got a fun, easy nail tutorial for you today.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Base coat for nail polish
  • Top coat for nail polish
  • Dark nail polish
  • Glitter nail polish
  • Makeup Sponge

I used Ophelia by A England for my dark polish. Ophelia is a blackened base with amethyst shimmer. On my nails the amethyst shimmer is very shy but it’s visible in the bottle.

I used Razzle Dazzle by Girly Bits for my glitter. Razzle Dazzle is a raspberry fuchsia jelly with very fine, tiny glitter in hues of red, pink, blue and fuchsia with holographic goodness. I love a glitter like this! I love this color enough that this is my 3rd mani in a row with it.

Glitter Gradient Mani tutorial

1
To begin, apply your base coat. I used Cult Nails Get it On base coat (vegan). Then I applied 2 coats of Ophelia. I stopped Ophelia before my visible nail line. It doesn’t have to be perfect.

2
Next paint a stripe of your glitter across the visible nail line, like you were doing french tips. Again, it doesn’t have to be perfect.

3
Now pick up your makeup sponge and dab some Razzle Dazzle on it. Then dab lightly at the end of your nail where the two colors meet. Then go back for another round, slightly further up the nail. You can continue further up the nail if you want more glitter. I stopped about halfway up my nail bed. Finish the mani with a coat or two of top coat.

That looks AWESOME! I really need to get it together and try some nails looks like this. I’m always too subtle and use colors like a light pink with silver glitter.

Love the contrast of the dark and the bright pink. Great idea to do it like French tips first, and then sponge the gradient.

This looks so bold and pretty… love it! I just read about Girly Bits polish for the first time earlier today. I can find many posts about the colors and great ways to use them; beautiful colors! I’m wondering, though, how they wear. Do they last a while? Or is the fun in the colors and sparkles something worth it yet not long-wearing? I’d like to know; although, either way, I’ve seen some great and really pretty uses for the wonderful colors and shimmer/glitter of this brand of polish.
