Emme Diane Best Skincare for Acne

My Emme Diane Custom Skincare for Acne and Melasma

I just got off the phone after having a skincare consultation with licensed esthetician, Emme Diane, and all I can say is wow. I thought I knew a thing or two about acne, having battled it my entire adult life. I’ve been blogging for eight years now, and I’ve tried SO many skincare products and med spa treatments, and talked to so many doctors, estheticians and health experts, but I have never heard some of the advice Emme gave me! I have cystic, hormonal acne and melasma (brown spots that are triggered by hormone fluctuations), so Emme gave me advice on dietary changes to make, makeup and skincare product ingredients to avoid, and other lifestyle changes to make.

She explained to me that acne is generally a hereditary issue. Our skin is supposed to cleanse itself by sloughing off dead skin cells and oil via our pores. When we suffer from acne, our pores are “cleansing” on overdrive – often 4-6 times a day, which causes a buildup of gunk – and you guessed it – clogged pores and pimples! Bacteria can get stuck in those clogs, which causes inflammation, and aggravates it even more.

And on the topic of melasma (which admittedly I didn’t know much about), she told me that I should be avoiding most heat and light based med spa treatments because they can aggravate the condition. I have been told by many experts that I needed IPL, BBL, and other laser treatments to get rid of spots. Turns out – those treatments (plus the laser hair removal I have done) were just making it worse!

Take a look at this before and after (this is one of Emme’s clients) – wow!

Emme really takes the time to learn about your skin, your lifestyle, your diet, etc. She makes recommendations based on what your skin needs, and she tailors the concentrations of active ingredients so you can start off slowly and build up to more intense treatments. She is sending me a custom acne/melasma skincare set as we speak, so I haven’t tried her products yet. I was so impressed with her knowledge and the lengths she goes to avoid pore-clogging ingredients that most brands use (including stuff you would NEVER think to look for).

Acne and melasma are MY issues (and I know a lot of you suffer from them too), but I don’t want you to think Emme only works with those issues. If your skin is dry, dull, lackluster, or you’re seeing more wrinkles than ever before, Emme can help you with that too. That’s why I love that she picks out products specifically for your skin. If you’ve been trying to treat a skin issue without success, this could be life changing for you. And don’t worry – the skincare consult isn’t complicated. It’s as simple as filling out the small questionnaire and attaching a few photos of your skin after cleansing. Wow … jealous that this one is open only to those of you in the U.S. I never had a problem with acne my whole life. Some pimples here and there especially when I was a teenager, but nothing major. But I hit perimenopause, and holy cow! Adult acne really sucks. At least when you’re young, it sort of goes with the territory. But I feel like a freak!
