cruelty free wigs

Guest post by Nancy Evans.

We all love our wigs and hair accessories. Sometimes it’s for a costume, sometimes it’s just to look our best. But whatever kind of wig or accessory we use for whatever reason, we need to be aware of just what we’re buying. This is especially true when looking at products with the ‘cruelty free’ label.

Just looking at Vogue wigs and other companies, we can see many wigs fit this description. But what exactly does it mean? This usually also means that the product is made with synthetic hair or human hair.

Synthetic fibers are “pre-styled”, so they can stay curled to perfection or stay straight as a pin! No need to style. Synthetic wigs are also more affordable, so you can change your look every day!

Human hair wigs are made from 100% human hair and look much more natural. Human hair can also be heated with flat or curling irons, so the styling possibilities are limitless. Finally, due to the inherent strength and durability of real human hair, these wigs offer unprecedented longevity when compared to their synthetic counterparts.

Believe it or not, many wigs are made from animal hair, including goat or yak hair (gross)! It does take a little more effort to go out of your way to buy cruelty free wigs and hair accessories, but with the numerous ways to find them it’s hardly any work at all.

A wig is a head of hair made from horsehair, human hair, wool, feathers, yak hair, buffalo hair, or synthetic materials which is worn on the head for fashion or various other aesthetic and stylistic reasons, including cultural and religious observance. Got this information from a reliable source. Thought it might help readers. 🙂

I agree with you that most of the hair wigs are made of animal hair but there are a lot of wigs which are made by human hairs. Hairs imported from the countries like India and it is possible to take any kind of natural hairstyle through those wigs. 🙂

I don’t like being bald, so I prefer to wear a wig. From what I have seen, human hair wigs are the best, and like you said, they are strong and durable so they last a long time. I would definitely prefer human hair wigs over animal hair.

Reminds me of when I first moved to Brazil, the salons here are crazy, at least the affordable ones are.
