Does Anyone Know of a Great Cruelty Free Mascara for Bottom Lashes?
Question of the Week: What does your ideal mascara do, and which one comes close to delivering it?
I don’t use mascara on my top lashes since I invest in lash extensions. But for the bottom lashes, I like a small wand that makes it easy to apply without getting mascara under my eyes. I like a cruelty free mascara formula that adds pigment and length without getting overly clumpy. I’ve tried some mascaras that are made specifically for the bottom lashes that end up being TOO light or they smudge right away and I’m left with raccoon eyes. To be honest – I’m still searching for the perfect bottom lash mascara! Lately I’ve been using Urban Decay Troublemaker mascara. It’s really meant for the upper lashes (for maximum length and thickness) so I have to be careful not to overdo it. But once it’s on – it doesn’t smudge! And it makes my lashes look amazing. But I’m still looking for something with less texture so I don’t have to comb out the clumps. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Arbonne the longest story mascara meant for top and bottom. Won’t clump, fine bristles, to lengthen and gradually grow. It is water resistant and wot smudge.

Have you tried the WnW one? The one in a blue tube with a thin wand. I like that one.

I find it very hard to find a mascara that doesn’t smudge on the lower lashline unless it’s waterproof which of course is a pain to take off.
I have a good tip that prevents mascara smudges though you need to be careful not to rub your eyes otherwise no matter what you do you may get transference of the mascara under the eyes.
The tip is this.
if you’re concealing under the eyes, get some powder, whatever one you like to use. i like to use hourglass ambient light power and put this over your concealer.. it acts as a barrier between the oils of the concealer or skin and stops the mascara from leaving marks.
i hope this helps

I wear extensions too, and would love to find a mascara for my lower lashes. I looked, but didn’t find any brands that I was sure was cruelty free. I wonder if it’s safe to use brow gel. It has a very small brush.

Someone else mentioned the Wet N Wild one – I’ll go get it!

Thanks Julie! Lately I haven’t been using powder under my eyes at all because I can’t find one that doesn’t crease and make my pores and wrinkles look huge!

I recently got lash extensions and was looking to invest in a lower lash mascara. I picked up MAC’s Extended Play Gigablack Lash and am loving it! The shape of the wand makes application a cinch and really hits all those lower lashes. And it’s reaonabky priced so it so t break the bank. If you try it out I’d love to hear if it works for you!

Just realized that MAC is not cruelty free. So disappointing. Sorry everyone!

Thanks Laurie! I wish I could buy MAC – I miss them so much! Unfortunately they sell in China, so not cruelty free. Such a bummer, I know!

Hi Kathy – I would think brow gel would be too heavy – too much waxy stuff – and probably not dark enough. But worth a try if you already have some!
