What are the cruelty free brands at Sephora?

If you’re a Sephora fanatic like me, you may be asking yourself which brands at Sephora are cruelty free? It’s nice to have a handy list to refer to, so I put together a cruelty free brands guide for Sephora that you can refer to while shopping. Keep in mind that Sephora adds new brands, and cuts brands from their shelves all the time so this list is subject to change. I’ll be updating it as we go. If there’s a brand that you’re curious about, but don’t see listed here, just leave a comment below, or DM me on social. I’m happy to help and will play detective if I don’t already know!

So here is the cruelty free guide below. It consists of cruelty free brands, grey area brands (brands that haven’t sufficiently answered my cruelty free questions) and brands to avoid (brands that DO test on animals or sell in China or other countries where testing is required by law). If you’re on a laptop of desktop computer, you can use Command or Control + F to search – just make sure you read the header so you’ll know if you’re looking at the good list or the bad list!

  8. I met one of Dr. Gross’ representatives at Nordstrom who told me their brand was cruelty free. I was planning to purchase his line of skin care this weekend at Sephora VIP event. So disappointed he is in the grey area. Do you expect to receive any update from him soon? Not wanting to purchase his products now, so disappointing.

  9. Do you know if Verb hair care is cruelty-free? From what I can tell, they are but wanted to check with you. Thank you so much for all of this information! I am at about 99% cruelty free for cosmetics, hair and skin care!

  10. It’s disappointing to see the list of who does test. Some are obvious because they are owned by Estee Lauder and L’Oreal but some aren’t as obvious.

  12. Unfortunately, it seems like every customer service rep thinks whatever brand they are working for is cruelty free. I’ve seen many a MAC makeup artist tell people their products are cruelty free. I think that’s what they are taught by the brands!

  13. Thanks vor the updated list. It actually gets thinner for vegan, sigh. Hope one day companies would just abandon animal cruelty altogether.

  15. Hi, Bare Minerals uses animal hair in their brushes. Since we don’t know the conditions these animals are kept in, cruel or otherwise, I think it needs to be added to their listing on Beauty Bunny. Thanks.

  16. Fenty Beauty actually got their peta certification. I kinda freaked out when I saw them on your pending list! Lol

  17. Hey Katy! I hadn’t heard about their PETA certification, but from what I have learned, PETA really doesn’t check their suppliers and they don’t audit after their initial certification. I really don’t trust them – I know that sucks. Logical Harmony and Phyrra have had the same issues with PETA’s list.

  19. I’m curious to see if anyone knows about Fenty yet? It seems to be kinda up in the air on every cruelty free blog I check out. Either that, or it’s not even mentioned on any list. Thank you!

  21. Too bad about Fenty. For someone pale AF it’s really hard to find foundation that’s cruelty free and not yellow or orange toned. I know there’s Kat Von d’s which is great but it’s just too heavy for everyday wear.
    Also, what are we thinking about beauty blender now that they are breaking into the cosmetics side of the market? Do we know if they are planning to stay cruelty free?
