Advice I Would Give My 19-Year-Old Self About Overcoming Fear

10 Years Later: A Letter to My 19-Year-Old Self

It’s hard to believe it’s been a decade since I was 19—just writing that feels surreal.

Time Flies When You’re Growing Up

  • Your teens feel like a blur, almost like a bridge between childhood and adulthood.
  • But your 20’s? They hit differently. One minute you’re starting out, and the next, you’re wondering where the years went.

The One Thing I Wish I’d Known Sooner

If I could go back and give my 19-year-old self one piece of advice, it would be this:

Fear won’t protect you. Fear is the enemy.

Why Fear Doesn’t Help

  • For some people, fear might push them forward. For me? It just froze me in place.
  • It made me want to retreat instead of take risks.

What to Choose Instead

Instead of letting fear control you, remind yourself:

  • You’re going to be okay.
  • You’re safe.
  • You’re taken care of.

Let love guide you—love for yourself, love for the people around you, and love for the future you’re building.

The Truth About Fear

  • It doesn’t solve problems—it just clouds your thinking.
  • It won’t change the outcome, but it will drain your energy.

You Don’t Have to Be Afraid Anymore

It’s okay to relax. It’s okay to release the things that weigh you down. And most of all, it’s okay to live a life you truly enjoy.

You don’t have to hide.
