Why Trust My Packing Advice?

I’ve been traveling nonstop since 2016, so I’ve learned a thing or two about packing light. Trust me, I’ve made all the mistakes so you don’t have to!

When my husband and I first started traveling, we packed like we were moving abroad—huge suitcases, multiple bags, and way too much stuff we never used. After several trips (and sore shoulders from overstuffed backpacks), we finally switched to carry-ons only. Best. Decision. Ever. 😉

People are always surprised when we tell them we travel with just a carry-on (and maybe a reusable bag for snacks). But it’s totally doable—and it forces you to pack only what you actually need.

My Top Packing Tips

1. Pack Only What You’ll Really Use

  • Be honest with yourself. That “just in case” outfit? You probably won’t wear it.
  • Stick to clothes you wear regularly at home. It saves space and stress.

2. Roll Your Clothes (Yes, Really!)

  • Rolling clothes military-style saves tons of space. I once fit twice as much into my mother-in-law’s suitcase this way—she was shocked!

3. Wear Your Bulkiest Items

  • Jeans, sneakers, jackets—wear them on travel days to free up suitcase space.
  • No one wants to drag a heavy checked bag through the airport.

4. Simplify Toiletries & Beauty Products

  • Ask yourself: “Will I really use this?” If not, leave it.
  • Travel-sized products are your friend. Skip the bulky eyeshadow palette.

5. Invest in a Good Carry-On

Fun story: The photo below is from our 2017 Thailand trip—back when we still overpacked. 😂

  • We swear by Travelpro suitcases. Durable, easy to maneuver, and worth every penny.

6. Use a Packing Checklist

  • I’ve forgotten too many things by rushing. A checklist saves the day!

Final Thoughts

Hope these tips make packing easier for you! Got your own tricks? Share them in the comments—I’d love to hear. 😊

P.S. This café gave me my yearly dose of estrogen (and I’m not complaining).
